Charli XCX contains multitudes.
The Brat musician opened up about the differences and similarities between herself and the Charli character she plays in The Moment while at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday (January 22) for the premiere her new film, a mockumentary produced by A24 that was inspired by her real life touring, People reports.
"I'm obviously quite related to my character, so I had a lot of inspiration to pull from," she said. "I would like to think I'm not as much of a nightmare as Charli in the film, but my real managers are in the audience and they probably know the true answer to that."
While The Moment depicts a fictionalized and over-the-top version of herself who has "spiral moments," the role still holds some nuggets of truth about the real person behind the artist.
"I have been there. I think I am, as an artist, quite a volatile person. And nice though. I am quite nice too. Right?" she asked, as co-writer and director Aidan Zamiri replied, "Yes, yes, confirmed."
In addition to Charli, The Moment stars Rosanna Arquette, Hailey Benton Gates, Kate Berlant, Jaime Demetriou, Rachel Sennott, Trew Mullen, Mel Ottenberg, Isaac Powell, Rish Shaw, Tish Weinstock, Michael Workéyè and Alexander Skarsgård, and even features an appearance by Kylie Jenner.
The Moment hits theaters January 30.
