The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons has a beard now, and fans can barely recognize him.
The star, widely known for his clean-shaven role as Sheldon Cooper in the beloved CBS sitcom which ran from 2007 to 2019, debuted his surprising new look at the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday (October 28) per E!News.
Parsons, who is trying out the new look for his current Broadway role in Our Town, spoke about his beard with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, sharing that he just wanted to "try it."
"I grew it knowing that I was going to go into the play. The play didn’t need it. Long story short, I had a talk with my barber. I was like, ‘You always have a beard,’ and he was like, ‘Well, I kind of have a weak chin. I was like, ‘I want to try it.'"
The bearded actor opened up about Our Town during a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, explaining that the project has taught him to appreciate all of life's blessings.
"You’re not going to appreciate every moment. We’re egoic human beings on this earth. If you can get a few of them, that’s a really great win. So forgive yourself for going, ‘I just didn’t really see so and so today.’ Well, try again next time."
