Grey's Anatomy stars Jessica Capshaw and Camilla Luddington are speaking out on a former show writer who faked a cancer diagnosis.

On the latest episode of their podcast Call It What It Is, titled "Call It Liars," the duo said they were ready to "break their silence" on former Grey's writer Elisabeth Finch who lied about having cancer for a decade.

In March 2022, The Ankler released a shocking report alleging Finch had lied about being diagnosed with a rare cancer, and a Vanity Fair exposé published two months later detailed more of her reported fabrications. She later admitted to The Ankler that she lied about having cancer, saying "what [she] did was wrong" and "f---ed up." According to People, her "fall from grace" was documented in the new Peacock documentary series Anatomy of Lies , which premiered October 15.

Capshaw and Luddington reflected on first hearing about the hoax and how "someone that was in [their] daily life at Grey's completely lied about her entire identity" and the "betrayal" after learning the truth.

While Capshaw said it "never occurred to [her] to not believe [Finch]" as "you could never in a million years imagine questioning" something like a cancer diagnosis, Luddington said the experience made her question her own judgment.

"It's hard because you watch these documentaries on Dateline," Luddington said of the "creepy" hoax. "I'm like this, 'I would've known. I would know that person's lying.' And then you have an experience where it basically feels like you're in a Dateline documentary. And it feels like, 'I did not know. I truly did not know.'"

Capshaw and Luddington not only co-starred on the hit medical drama but they're also real-life besties who "[open] up their friendship circle" to listeners on their podcast, which occasionally features special guests.
