Retirement. When days filled with long hours at the office are exchanged for endless hours at the golf course. Gone are the days of stale coffee and idle chitchat. Instead, it's your time to relax and enjoy life.
A new study by WalletHub compared each state in the country to determine which is the best for retirement. Though it may come as no shock that Florida tops the list, some of the other states in the top 10 may surprise you.
But where did Louisiana rank on the list?
Number 34
While Louisiana had the highest property-crime rate of all states, it had the lowest annual cost of in-home services of all states and was ranked in the top 10 for affordability.
The top 10 states are listed below in order:
- Florida
- Colorado
- Delaware
- Virginia
- North Dakota
- Montana
- Idaho
- Utah
- Minnesota
- New Hampshire
To determine the list, WalletHub compared each state using three factors: affordability, quality of life, and health care. These factors were then evaluated using 45 relevant metrics, including cost of living, annual cost of in-home services, share of population aged 65 and older, elderly-friendly labor market, access to public transportation, mildness of weather, golf courses per capita, health care facilities per capita, and more.
